Drawing For Animation Final Assignment

For the final in this class we had to pick a person from the website The Sartorialist and turn him/her into a character design for our desired medium (animated show/comic book/video game/etc.) for our desired audience.

I chose this bloke whom I named Pietro Idoni, a Private Investigator in Seattle, WA, for an animated TV show for 14-16 year old boys. It's a crime show that I like to think is a mix between The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack in terms of humor and Batman the Animated Series in terms of content/story.

This class has been a blast. I'm going to miss it the most.

D&D Character Design

The last two weeks for my Drawing for Animation class, we had to create a D&D character and their familiar for our "40 year old friend who still lives in his mom's basement." 

I created Zephyr the air genasi and her frog familiar for this occasion.

Since genasi are derived from djinn which is Arabic mythology, I decided to make this character look more middle eastern than anything else (I get tired of drawing white people all the time). Some of my classmates and I decided to see who could make the best female armor that was actually functional and not just a metal or leather bikini; I guess you could say our 40 year old friend is a feminist.

Imaginary Friend

Designed a girl and her imaginary friend. There are 3 things I know, personally, about imaginary friends. They are:

1. Some kids see dead and talk to dead people and it isn't until they do or say something really creepy that their parents or other adults start to suspect that their imaginary friends are actually dead people.
2. All the Disney characters were my imaginary friends growing up. Them and Power Rangers, actually, now that I think back on it.
3. My cousin had an imaginary friend who was a washcloth . . . my family is weird.

Since washcloths and dead people are equally disgusting, I decided to make a little girl with asthma who has to carry around an oxygen tank all the time, which deters other kids her age from befriending her. This lack of real friends led her to create an imaginary lion friend to spend her days with.
